My first ever Clubhouse..
Have you ever had those moments when you stumble upon a thing(or someone, it applies to that too!) and it ends up to be one of the greatest things you have come across in your life? So, yeah. That is what happened with me and College Fashionista. One day I was just bored out of my mind in one of my elective classes, I was scrolling through my internet browser and stumbled upon College Fashionista. I clicked on the advertisement and read more about this community of fashionistas. I did not know much about it. I didn't read far enough to know much of it but I applied. I filled out the form they had online and submitted it on a whim. I am not sure how long after, but they got back to me and i received an email that really made my heart flutter. It included a lot of information about College Fashionista and cool graphics that were suggested to be put up on Instagram Stories, to let the world know that I am part of one of the coolest community of fashionistas ever (Duh!). I applied because I like fashion but that’s not really what I am studying in school. This left me frustrated a lot of time and kind of LOST. I always knew I love fashion, I love styling, and creating aesthetically pleasing photos but as much as I love all these things I also love my major. However, despite the irrelevance of my field of study, I remember how warmly CF had welcomed me into the community. I didn’t think it was a big deal to be a part of this community at first until IT WAS!
Recently this summer, CF hosted a series of events at the CF Clubhouse. To be honest, I was very intimidated to step even just outside the venue and thinking that I will be surrounded by people who are so much more knowledgable about the fashion industry, beauty and a lot more. But I still showed up because really what can I lose? No regrets. I ended up meeting inspirational women and connected with some amazing ladies from different colleges across the country.
This is my story. This is how I became one of CF’s amazing Style Gurus. College Fashionista is a club I have always wanted to have in school. CF is a community of College students who are passionate about the beauty of life through fashion, beauty, travel, and much more. I think it’s what I have longed for since elementary school. It’s wonderful to know that I have a community I can run to about anything especially fashion and school related. So, I encourage you to become a part of the community, if you are not yet. Lol.
And a take away I want this post to have is that, please stop hindering ‘yourself’ from opportunities to grow, expand and broaden your network. And for college students like me who are not really studying fashion or anything related to the industry but still super passionate about fashion, please don’t make that as an excuse to not do ‘fashion’ which you love so dearly. Stop listening to people who tell you, ‘You can’t’ because darling YOU CAN.
